Inspiration and tools for church planting.

This book began as a series of articles in the Apostolic News (now ACTS News NZ), over 15 years ago! Really it has been on the go for over a decade. While methods change, principles do not. I found many times I was copying these articles for Pastors, future church planters & Leaders. So with much encouragement from these sort of people, I began to write a hopefully, helpful toolbox plus an inspirational introduction for anybody who is even vaguely interested in church planting. My aim is to inspire, disturb, encourage, unsettle and motivate people who read this to be involved in what I consider “the best long term evangelistic method under heaven”. I confess up front, I am fanatically passionate about the local church, I am convinced it is Gods plan A and there is no plan B. Bill Hybells says it so well, “The Church is the hope of the world..”

This is the first printing!! Please overlook the errors… The second print will be absolutely perfect!!! Yeah right!!!

I believe it was significant that it was not only printed in India but also launched there in February 2009; a huge mission field where church planting is out of control!

Here are some chapter headings: Why Plant Churches? The Power of Vision. Building our base. The pioneer. The numbers game. Why Plant if Church Planting doesn’t work? … some say!!! The Possible Dream. How do we develop leaders? Movements that Plant Movements. Multiplication. PLUS a huge appendix full of helpful tools anyone can use.

Some quotes that have inspired me:

“I am sure that this will inspire revolutionaries to boldly step forward and take ground for Christ!”

“The most concrete, lasting form of ministry in Acts is church planting”. C. P. Wagner.

“The extensive activity of starting new congregations, the care and feeding of all new congregations is thus to me the central strategic activity to which all evangelistic methods must be bent”. C. P. Wagner.

“Seeing is possessing”.

“Gods vision to each one of us is beyond ourselves”.

“If we are not actively contributing to the Great Commission in some way we are not fulfilling the primary function of the church”.

“Mission is the task of the church”.

Book Review by Rev Simon Moetara: Lecturer Vision College Hamilton: BA English Literature, Masters in Theology.

Anyone who knows Nick – or, even spends five minutes with him! - is aware of his phenomenal passion for seeing souls saved and churches planted. He was a member of the DAWN (Discipling  a Whole Nation) Strategy Committee for New Zealand and a trustee of VISION New Zealand. Nick is also a former National Leader of the ACTS Church Movement (formerly The Apostolic Church) of New Zealand, and still serves as a member of the National Leadership Team. Nick was the Senior Minister of Eastside Church, Hamilton for over 19 years and has recently stepped into a new role; providing leadership and input for a network of churches known as Vision Churches International.

Now, drawing on almost thirty years of church leadership and planting experience, Nick has gathered his insights and thoughts into one volume: Multiplication: Inspiration and Tools for Church Planting (Vision Print: 2008).

It is a wonderful resource filled with wisdom and insight that not only explains the importance of church planting, but also provides pragmatic and workable approaches that the church planter can employ. Nick shares his thoughts and collates a wide range of helpful resources. He discusses a number of key topics with both sagacity and candor, including the importance of developing leaders, the pioneering nature of the church planter’s work, the need for strong, healthy relationships between ‘mother’ and ‘daughter’ churches, and the notion of movements planting movements.

Nick’s great desire to see entire communities and whole nations won for Christ, and to see church planters empowered and released is the driving force behind the creation of this book, and his heart is seen on every page.
